The World UAV Federation was founded in June 2017 and its unveiling ceremony was held in October of the same year. As the organization for drone systems and professionals, it is playing a leading and influencing role in the advancement of professionalism within drone industry in the region.

Additionally, WUAVF, who publishes, distributes and circulates pamphlets, newsletters, periodicals and other literature on drone in furtherance of the objectives and activities of the federation, is also a platform bridge for the industry members and government within the drone policy and professional consultant guideline. It holds exhibitions, conferences, symposias, seminars, forums, congresses and conducts training courses for the benefits of members who have vested interests in drone industry. In retrospect we see that the 2nd Drone World Congress and 3rd UAV Expo held on 22-24 June, 2018 at Shenzhen Convention Exhibition Centre, China was a great success. And the 3rd Drone World Congress and 4th UAV Expo will be held again next year in June 2019 in Shenzhen, China.

With the accession of Mr. Yukio Hatoyama, we believe that the development of such industries as UAVs, trade and investment between China and Japan, ect. will be further promoted.

Yukio Hatoyama, born 11 February 1947, is a former Japanese politician who served as Prime Minister of Japan from 16 September 2009 to 8 June 2010. He was the first Prime Minister from the modern Democratic Party of Japan.

First elected to the House of Representatives in 1986, Hatoyama became President of the DPJ, the main opposition party, in May 2009. He then led the party to victory in the August 2009 general election, defeating the long-governing Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), who had been in power for over a decade. He represented the Hokkaido 9th district in the House of Representatives from 1986 to 2012.

Hatoyama continues to display his outspokenness after his retirement from politics in 2010. He is one of the most followed Japanese current/ex-politicians on Twitter and still regularly weighs in on current affairs.

In 2010, Time magazine’s “Time 100” elected Hatoyama as No. 6 among the 100 most influential people in the world. It said Hatoyama had “helped change his country from a de facto one-party state into a functional democracy”, through the DPJ victory in the 2009 general election.
